To help you make sense of the changes, we’ve broken down everything you need to know about the new Umbraco. So let’s dive in...

Umbraco 15 builds on the platform’s reputation for flexibility and ease of use, but introduces key updates that matter at a larger scale:

Improved multilingual management
A redesigned approach to handling multilingual content simplifies workflows across global markets, making localisation more intuitive and maintainable.

Faster, cleaner backoffice
Significant enhancements to the editing experience that are improving performance, content modelling, and user permissions – ideal for large editorial teams or multi-brand environments.

Modern .NET core foundation
The platform continues to run on the latest .NET, delivering better performance, easier integrations, and long-term support aligned with Microsoft’s roadmap.

On an older version of Umbraco?

If you're still using Umbraco 7 or 8, you're likely facing technical debt – which is the cost of continuing to use outdated technology that’s harder to maintain, less secure, and less efficient. And with official support for Umbraco 7 now ended, moving to a modern, supported version is no longer optional, it’s a matter of managing risk and ensuring future scalability.

Migrating from older versions, particularly from 7 to 13 or 15, isn't just a simple upgrade but more of a rebuild. This presents an opportunity to streamline your content structure, modernise workflows, and optimise your digital strategy. For those already on Umbraco 10+, upgrading to 15 is much more straightforward, thanks to the Long-Term Support (LTS) model, which ensures stability and predictable updates.

What’s right for you?

The decision to upgrade or replatform entirely depends on your business goals and the current state of your digital estate.

Upgrade if you’re invested in Umbraco, your content model is working well, and you simply need better performance, security, and future support.

Replatform if your current CMS is limiting your ambitions, whether that’s composable architecture, headless delivery, or omnichannel content reuse.
