Textiles Scotland

The start of the journey.

The Scottish Textile Industry Association (STIA) assists Scotland's textile design and manufacturing sector to build on its strengths and work together in a rapidly changing global industry.

The organisation promotes Scotland's textile industry to buyers, suppliers and partners through interaction and collaboration by providing access to information and assistance.

Where did Textiles Scotland want to go?
We were asked to produce a community website for SITA, primarily aimed at showcasing Scottish textiles designers. The site also had to showcase the skills and expertise of those working in the industry to an online audience of manufacturers, buyers and tastemakers.

How we got there together.
We took a magazine-style approach to the design that would let Scotland's designers showcase their wares in a recognisable and approachable format.

A new Designers Room allowed designers to share their work, comment on the work of others, find inspiration and join in with the online community by commenting and exchanging ideas.

A bespoke Inspiration Wall let users add images they found interesting and inspiring from other sites. News and feature articles on Scotland’s textiles industry provided a solid overview of the industry and helped show how Scottish textiles designers are being received in UK and overseas markets.

With the Textiles Scotland site now live, we continue to work with the team at SITA, increasing the number of news and feature articles, uploading inspiring images and managing the steady stream of user generated content and comments.
