The Financial Services Skills Gateway Employer Council, supported by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and the Financial Services Skills Council, approached us in 2011.
Where did SDS want to go? The organisation was looking to develop an online gateway to promote Scotland's financial services sector that would act as a single source for careers, employers and skills information.
Our brief was to persuade graduates to consider a career in the financial services industry. The challenge was to create awareness of the surprising breadth of career opportunities, whilst challenging preconceptions about the potential 'excitement' a career in the sector might or might not generate.
How we got there together. In order to shed new light on Scotland's financial services industry we started off with a people-focussed design for the homepage. In the first instance this presented the friendly face of finance. Users could scroll over head shots and view interviews with Marketing Officers, Bank Officers and Graduate Scheme participants.
Headlines like, "No one ever ran away to join a bank. We're hurt" and "Not into finance? Some of us aren't either." sat on each page.
Explore the Roles section covered the multitude of different career opportunities available in a career in a career in financial services, from Pensions Administrators and Fund Accounting Specialist and Marketing Officers.
Users could find their ideal role by using a series of personality profiles then click through to specific employers and each of their recruitment pages.
