NHS Inform

The start of the journey.

We've been working with NHS24 for a number of years. We were involved with the launch of the original NHS24 site, an online health advice and information service that complimented the telephone service, and most recently, NHS inform, a new online health and advice service providing regionally-specific advice to people in Scotland.

Where NHS inform wanted to go.
The team at NHS24 were looking for a site that would bring together national and regional health advice, from across the NHS and other local authorities that would also be specific to Scotland.

The site would provide the public, patients and carers in Scotland with essential online health advice and regional seasonal advice that was relevant and up to the minute, in one easy to reach destination.

How we got there together.
We consulted with NHS24, to prioritise content to be included in the new site, including particular health services and sections that were most in need of profiling.

We integrated a number of sections on the site that would meet the differing needs of NHS patients in Scotland.

We included an A - Z Health Section to tackle the specific health queries of NHS patients in Scotland. A Behind the Headlines section demystified health-related news stories and a Live Well Zone, included detailed advice relating to alcohol, care and health rights. A Gaelic Health in My Language section offered Scottish patients regional-specific health advice.

Finally, to open up the site to visually impaired NHS patients, we built in progressive colour changing technology and added in text resizing abilities.

The first phase of the site was officially launched in August 2010. Over the coming months, as the service develops, we'll be increasing the site's interactive features, creating a bespoke carers' information service and managing NHS inform's ongoing seasonal health campaigns.
