Keppie Design is a top ten UK architectural practice with a long and illustrious history and has acclaimed architects such as Charles Rennie Macintosh and John Honeyman as part of their history.
Following a number of changes within the organisation and a desire to increase exposure of their portfolio, Keppie Design approached us about creating a new company website.
Where did Keppie want to go? Naturally the aim was to produce a website that would properly showcase Keppie's impressive portfolio and clearly point clients to their core services of urban and interior design, landscaping and planning.
But Keppie also wanted us to help them communicate their firmly held belief that architecture is a form of 'social art', which they express through their 'Life' philosophy.
Underlining the whole project was Keppie's desire to present the organisation as transparent.
How we got there together. As you will see our design for the website focused on presenting a fresh, bright, dynamic and forward-thinking brand image.
And as for the message, we gave Keppie's admirable company philosophy star billing. So a Flash-embedded homepage loads the company's core services before leading users directly into the 'Life' section. From here the customer cannot fail to appreciate the company's ethos, before navigating through to the Services section of the site.
The company's desire for transparency especially informed the design of the Team section where visitors can see, at a glance, who worked on a particular project. Users simply roll over a headshot to find out more. (As you can see we've embraced the idea of crediting our team members by project too)
And for the technically minded we can tell you we used Joomla!, an open source and flexible Content Management System, to allow new pages to be easily created and added by Keppie staff after the site had launched.
