National Theatre for Scotland site gets a digital redesign

Digital communications company Dog Digital is pleased to announce the launch of the new National Theatre of Scotland website.

In a bid to increase active attendance and participation in the Theatre, and to communicate the breadth of services and events to a younger audience, the new site includes a number of new features and a full visual refresh.

Page-wide production stills now sit within each the page to give a dramatic representation of productions online. Visitors can now view the latest season brochures online, in full-screen mode, within the site.

The new homepage navigation includes an about us section detailing the National Theatre of Scotland manifesto, news items and work with us information. A new National Theatre of Scotland blog, including news and feature items, will also help open up communication between the organisation and Scotland’s theatre-going public.

Full Twitter and YouTube integration lets audiences tweet about their show experiences in real-time, drumming up online buzz and spreading the word about current and upcoming performances in the process. Via the site’s new dedicated YouTube channel, visitors can watch video clips of recent performances such as Black Watch (2007) and Peter Pan (2010).

Dog Digital has also taken charge of National Theatre of Scotland’s extensive email marketing campaigns with custom-designed, HTML-built newsletters.

Alex Wilson, Creative Director, Dog Digital: "We've been working with the team at National Theatre of Scotland for a number of years, on various digital projects. With this latest project, we wanted to reflect the visual assault of the live performance, to an online audience. We wanted to create an online community that would both foster artistic innovation and support amongst the Scottish theatre community but also communicate their work to younger audiences."

Colin Clark, National Theatre of Scotland's Web & Publications Editor, said: "As a theatre company with no venue of our own, the National Theatre of Scotland's website is vitally important to us. In fact, we consider it our virtual home. It's a place where our audiences, our partners and stakeholders can engage with the Company and our work.

The website has the latest information about our current and forthcoming performances, of course, but it also gives audiences everywhere a deeper insight to what we do: the shows, the people who create them and the company itself.

Dog Digital understand the unique way the National Theatre of Scotland operates - that we often have many shows happening in different parts of the country at the same time, that we live and breathe our philosophy of being a "theatre without walls". Dog Digital has built a website that reflects that understanding beautifully, and which will allow us to continue to grow our presence online. The National Theatre of Scotland is very proud to have Dog Digital as our digital partners and we are thrilled with the work they have done for us on the redesign of our website."
